Argentina is a long country, and most honeymoon itineraries string several regions together by plane. Buenos Aires brings the city — San Telmo, Recoleta, Puerto Madero at dusk. Mendoza and Cafayate bring wineries and mountains. El Calafate and El Chaltén bring glaciers and granite towers; Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes and Villa La Angostura bring lakes and forests; Puerto Iguazú brings the falls; Ushuaia brings the end of the road. We book the session at whichever stop has the best light at a time that suits you, often the place you will stay longest.

Some of the most photographed places are national parks. The Perito Moreno glacier, the Iguazú falls and the forests of Tierra del Fuego all sit inside parks run by the Administración de Parques Nacionales, which regulates photography with a commercial purpose under Resolución HD 297/2018. We confirm what the park allows before the session is booked, and suggest a viewpoint just outside the park when that is simpler. Hotels, estancias and wineries set their own rules for outside photographers, so ask before choosing one as the location.

Wearing the wedding clothes again is optional. Some couples pack the dress and suit for a vineyard or a lakeshore; others prefer the clothes they actually travel in, which makes the photographs feel like the trip. Plan the outfit around the place: Patagonian wind lifts and twists long fabric, the spray at Iguazú soaks everything within a few metres of the falls, and the Mendoza summer sun is strong at midday. If the honeymoon is also the place where you want a symbolic ceremony, the elopement page covers that day instead.

Questions about honeymoon photography

What is a honeymoon photo session in Argentina?

A honeymoon photo session in Argentina is a 30-minute portrait session for a newly married couple during the trip after the wedding, often in Patagonia, Mendoza or near the Iguazú falls. Unlike wedding photography it has no timeline and no guests, so the honeymoon session fits around your itinerary rather than the other way round.

Which Argentine destinations suit a honeymoon session?

Honeymoon sessions in Argentina usually follow the classic honeymoon route: Buenos Aires for the city, Mendoza or Cafayate for the wineries, El Calafate and El Chaltén for glaciers and mountains, Bariloche for the lakes, and Puerto Iguazú for the falls. We book the honeymoon session in whichever stop has the light and the time that suit you.

Should we wear our wedding clothes for honeymoon photos?

Wearing wedding clothes for honeymoon photos in Argentina is optional: some couples bring the dress and suit for a vineyard or a lakeshore, others prefer the clothes they actually travel in. Patagonian wind and Iguazú spray are hard on a long dress, so plan the honeymoon session location around what you choose to wear.

Can a honeymoon session take place at the Iguazú falls or a glacier?

A honeymoon session at the Iguazú falls or the Perito Moreno glacier takes place inside an Argentine national park, run by the Administración de Parques Nacionales, which regulates commercial photography under Resolución HD 297/2018. We confirm what the park allows before the honeymoon session is booked, and choose a spot outside the park if needed.
