Drone photo & video
Drone photo and video in Argentina is an hour-long aerial session flown by a pilot who works in the country, priced from $260 for 25 edited aerial photos and a 1-minute aerial film delivered within 7 days. It is the view a ground camera cannot reach: the grid of Buenos Aires running out to the Río de la Plata, the rows of a vineyard in the Valle de Uco against the Andes, the red rock of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, two people small on the shore of Lago Nahuel Huapi outside Bariloche. Inside the 60 minutes, the time actually spent in the air is set by battery life, by the light and above all by the wind.

Flying a drone in Argentina: the ANAC rules for tourists and for hired pilots
Drones in Argentina follow RAAC Parts 100–102 (ANAC Res. 550/2025, amended 2026): free declaration from 250 g, line of sight, 400 ft, no flights over people.

About this session
Flying a drone shoot in Argentina, inside the rules

The rules changed recently. The Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC) replaced the 2019 drone regulation with Resolución 550/2025, published in the Boletín Oficial on 8 August 2025, which approved RAAC Parts 100, 101 and 102, and amended Part 100 again with Resolución 312/2026 in May 2026. A drone under 250 g is now outside the rules entirely. From 250 g up to 25 kg, a drone flies in the Open category, with no prior authorisation, after a free digital sworn declaration to the Registro Nacional de Aeronaves; in that category a pilot licence and insurance are voluntary. Every session here is flown under third-party liability insurance anyway, by a pilot who works in Argentina, because Ley de Migraciones 25.871 does not let a visitor admitted as a tourist do paid work.
The Open category also draws the map of where a shoot can happen. The drone stays in the pilot’s sight, below 400 ft (about 122 m) above the ground in uncontrolled airspace, outside every aerodrome control zone and outside prohibited, restricted and danger areas; in controlled airspace within 5 km of a runway threshold it may not climb above 43 m. It may not fly over a person who is not taking part and has not consented, nor over any crowd, nor over the Casa Rosada, the Quinta de Olivos, embassies or public buildings. National parks are a separate authority: the Administración de Parques Nacionales (APN) bans recreational drone flights in its parks — Los Glaciares, Iguazú, Nahuel Huapi, Tierra del Fuego among them — and authorises a project drone only on written request, in daylight, one at a time and at least 30 m from visitors.
Wind is the one thing no plan controls. A breeze that feels mild on the shore of Lago Argentino in El Calafate, or on the beach at Cariló, can be too strong for a small drone at 100 m, and the pilot decides on the spot whether it is safe to fly; mornings are usually calmer, which is why most sessions are booked early. Whether a grounded session moves to another date or changes shape is agreed in writing before booking. For a wedding, drone wedding coverage is the add-on built for the day, and for a house, lot or estancia, real estate drone footage is planned around the property.
Questions about drone photo & video
Can I bring my own drone, or a drone pilot from home, to Argentina?
Argentina’s drone rules do not bar foreign drones: RAAC Part 100 accepts a registration issued by the civil aviation authority of any ICAO member state, and a drone under 250 g falls outside the rules altogether. Paid work is a separate question, because Ley de Migraciones 25.871 does not let a visitor admitted as a tourist work for pay without authorisation from the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones. That is why every drone photo and video session booked here is flown by a pilot who works in Argentina.
Where can a drone not fly in Argentina?
Under RAAC Parts 100 and 101, a drone in the Open category stays below 400 ft (about 122 m) above the ground in uncontrolled airspace, in the pilot’s sight, outside every aerodrome control zone (CTR) and outside prohibited, restricted and danger areas. In controlled airspace within 5 km of a runway threshold the ceiling drops to 43 m, and the Casa Rosada, the Quinta de Olivos, embassies and public buildings are off limits without authorisation, which the pilot checks for each drone photo and video location.
Can a drone fly over Perito Moreno Glacier or Iguazú Falls?
Los Glaciares, Iguazú, Nahuel Huapi and every other national park follow the Administración de Parques Nacionales (APN), whose drone regulation bans recreational flights and requires prior written APN authorisation for any project. Approved flights are daylight only, one drone at a time and at least 30 m from visitors, and the APN filming rules ask for the request 20 business days ahead, so a drone photo and video session inside a national park is quoted only once the APN has answered.
Can a drone film us in a busy plaza in Buenos Aires or on a beach in Mar del Plata?
RAAC Part 101 does not let a drone fly over a person who is not taking part in the flight and has not consented to it, and Part 100 rules out flying over any crowd. In a busy plaza in Buenos Aires or on a summer beach in Mar del Plata that means an early start, a quieter stretch, or framing from the water side, which is why most drone photo and video sessions in cities are booked around sunrise.
What happens to a drone photo and video session if it is too windy to fly?
Wind can ground a small drone at height even when it feels calm on the ground, and in Patagonia — El Calafate, El Chaltén, Ushuaia — strong gusts are a normal afternoon. The pilot makes that call on the spot for safety. Whether a grounded drone photo and video session moves to another date or changes shape is agreed in writing before booking, so the answer is known before the day.
