Proposal photography

Proposal photography in Argentina is a surprise proposal photographed by a hidden photographer, priced from $160 for 30 minutes and 20 edited photos delivered within 5 days. The photographer is in place before you arrive, looking like any other visitor, photographs the question and the answer as they happen, and then spends the rest of the half hour on portraits of the newly engaged couple. The gallery arrives fast because the news usually travels faster.

Most of the work happens before the day. A planning call fixes the spot, the time, a signal and a cover story that explains why you are standing in that exact place at that exact minute. Good proposal spots in Argentina have three things in common: a view worth turning towards, somewhere for a photographer to wait unnoticed, and not too many people. Cerro Campanario above Bariloche, the walkways in front of the Perito Moreno glacier, a row of vines in the Valle de Uco, a riverside deck in the Tigre delta and a quiet plaza in Buenos Aires before the city wakes up all fit, at the right hour.

Many of those places have an operator. A chairlift, a boat excursion, a winery tasting or a hotel terrace each decides whether an outside photographer may come along, and whether that person needs a ticket of their own. Ask before booking, and tell the staff it is a surprise. The Perito Moreno walkways and the Iguazú trails sit inside national parks run by the Administración de Parques Nacionales, which regulates commercial photography under Resolución HD 297/2018, so a proposal there is planned with the park’s position confirmed first.

Weather is the other variable. Patagonian wind can make a viewpoint miserable within an hour and a Buenos Aires summer storm can arrive in minutes, so the plan always includes a sheltered second spot nearby and, if the itinerary allows, a second day, agreed by message between you and the photographer. If you want the moment on film as well as in stills, the proposal video service covers that separately; this page is for the photographs.

Questions about proposal photography

How does a surprise proposal photo session work in Argentina?

A surprise proposal photo session in Argentina starts with a planning call: you choose the spot, we agree a signal and a cover story, and the photographer is in place, looking like a tourist, before you arrive. The proposal is photographed as it happens, and the rest of the 30 minutes goes to portraits of the newly engaged couple.

Where do people propose in Argentina?

People propose in Argentina at viewpoints such as Cerro Campanario above Bariloche, on the walkways facing the Perito Moreno glacier, in a vineyard in the Valle de Uco, on a riverside deck in Tigre, or in a quiet plaza in Buenos Aires at sunrise. The best proposal spot is one where the photographer can wait unnoticed nearby.

Can we plan a proposal at a winery or a viewpoint run by a company?

A proposal at an Argentine bodega, a chairlift viewpoint or a boat excursion depends on the operator: each one decides whether an outside photographer may come along and whether a ticket is needed for them. Ask the winery or operator before booking the proposal photography, and tell them it is a surprise so the staff do not give it away.

What if the weather turns on the day of the proposal?

If the weather turns on the day of a proposal in Argentina, the photographer and the person proposing agree a second spot or a second day in advance, by message, without the partner knowing. Patagonian wind and Buenos Aires summer storms move fast, so the proposal plan always has a covered or sheltered alternative within a short walk.
