Wedding videography
Wedding videography in Argentina is a wedding day filmed by a videographer and edited into a single film of 6 to 8 minutes, priced from $1,600 for 8 hours of filming and delivered within 8 weeks. The film follows the day in order — getting ready, the ceremony, the portraits, the entrance, the toasts and the first dances — and carries the real sound of it: the vows in your own voices, the laughter in a speech, the song the band or the DJ played. The price is a starting quote, because a second camera, the civil ceremony on another day or extra hours change the work.

About this session
Filming an Argentine wedding: the long night, the sound and the edit

An Argentine wedding is long, and that shapes the booking more than anything else. The ceremony is often in the late afternoon, dinner starts late and the party keeps going until the sun is up, with the hora loca somewhere after midnight. Eight hours therefore cover getting ready, the ceremony, the sunset portraits, the entrance and the first dances; the later hours are added as extra time and quoted in writing. A destination wedding at an estancia in San Antonio de Areco, a bodega in the Valle de Uco or a lakeside hotel in Bariloche or Villa La Angostura also needs travel and an overnight stay agreed in advance.
Sound is what separates a wedding film from a slideshow. Outdoors, on a lawn above a Patagonian lake or among the vines in Mendoza, wind ruins camera audio in seconds, so the vows are recorded on a small lavalier microphone with a wind cover and a second recorder sits by the speakers for the toasts; the videographer also asks the DJ, a week or more before the day, for a direct feed from the mixing desk. The film is cut to licensed music, because a wedding film shared online with an unlicensed commercial song can be muted or blocked by the platform. Raw footage and a full-length ceremony are not part of the package unless they are agreed in writing before booking.
Wedding videography is not wedding photography with a video setting: it is a second person with a second camera, working beside the photographer to a shared timeline. If you are marrying at the Registro Civil, ask the office whether filming is allowed, since each office sets its own rules on cameras and guests. If you want the estancia, the vineyard or the lake seen from above, drone wedding coverage is a separate add-on flown by an insured pilot in daylight. And if the night is a party rather than a wedding — a fiesta de 15, a birthday, a company dinner — event videography is built for a 5-hour night.
Questions about wedding videography
Which 8 hours of an Argentine wedding does wedding videography cover?
An Argentine wedding often starts in the late afternoon and its party runs past dawn, so 8 hours of wedding videography rarely covers everything. The usual cut is getting ready, the ceremony, the portraits at sunset, the entrance, the toasts and the first dances; the later hours, the hora loca and the end of the night are added as extra time, quoted in writing before booking.
How is the sound of the vows recorded for wedding videography?
Wedding videography records the vows on a small lavalier microphone worn by the person officiating or by one of you, with a wind cover outdoors, and a second recorder sits by the speakers for the toasts. Wind on a Patagonian lakeshore or in a Mendoza vineyard ruins camera audio in seconds, so the videographer also asks the DJ for a direct feed from the mixing desk at least a week before the day.
Can the wedding film use a song we choose?
A wedding film shared online with an unlicensed commercial song can be muted or blocked by the platform, so wedding videography uses a track you choose only if it can be licensed for that use. Otherwise the videographer proposes a licensed piece with the same feel, and the song that was really played at your first dance can still be heard where it was recorded live.
Can the videographer film our civil ceremony at the Registro Civil?
Each Registro Civil office in Argentina sets its own rules on cameras, tripods and how many guests fit in the room, and some ceremonies last only a few minutes. Tell us which office and date you have booked, ask the office whether filming is allowed, and wedding videography of a civil ceremony is planned around its answer, usually with one handheld camera and no lights.
Why does a wedding film take 8 weeks to deliver?
The 8 weeks of wedding videography post-production go on reviewing every camera, syncing the separate audio of the vows and speeches, grading the colour of daylight, shade and party lights, choosing and licensing the music, and mixing the sound. Couples who marry between November and March, the busiest season, receive their film in the same 8 weeks as everyone else.
