The day is planned room by room with your team before the photographer arrives. Interiors are shot when their windows have the best light, the dining room and the bar at dusk with the lamps on, the pool or the spa when they are empty, and the food as the kitchen plates it. Activities sell an estancia or a lodge more than its bedrooms — a cabalgata at golden hour, a fire pit at the end of the day, a walk between the vines, a boat on the lake — so they are scheduled into the 8 hours, with staff or models taking part. A property spread over hundreds of hectares, or a second day for a different season, is quoted in writing.
Season matters more in Argentina than in most destinations. A Patagonian lodge near El Calafate or El Chaltén is usually photographed from November to March, when it is open and the days are long; an estancia in the pampas is greenest in spring and autumn; a vineyard hotel is gold in autumn and bare in winter. People in the frame need consent: article 53 of the Código Civil y Comercial requires each recognisable person’s agreement to reproduce their image, so staff and models sign a release and paying guests are photographed only if they agree in writing.
The photographs are licensed for your own marketing — website, booking platforms, social media, brochures — and for travel agents and press covering the property; paid advertising by a third party, resale or use after a change of ownership is agreed in writing. The landscape around the property from above is a drone photo and video session, flown by an insured pilot under ANAC rules, and short vertical clips for social media can be added through social media content on the same visit.
Questions about hotel & estancia photography
What does hotel and estancia photography cover in one day?
Hotel and estancia photography covers 8 hours on property: the room types, the lobby, galleries and dining room, the pool or the spa, the food, and the activities that sell the stay — horse riding, a fire pit, a vineyard walk or a boat on the lake. The day is planned with your team so each space is shot in its best light, and 80 edited photos arrive within 2 weeks.
Can hotel and estancia photography include guests and staff?
Hotel and estancia photography often uses staff or models in the frame, because an empty dining room or an unused horse sells less than one in use. Article 53 of Argentina’s Código Civil y Comercial requires each recognisable person’s consent to reproduce their image, so everyone who appears signs a release, and paying guests are photographed only if they agree in writing.
When is the best season for estancia photography in Argentina?
Estancia photography in the pampas around San Antonio de Areco suits spring and autumn, when the fields are green and the light is soft; a Patagonian lodge near El Calafate or El Chaltén is usually shot from November to March, when it is open and the days are long. Ask the hotel and estancia photographer to plan the date around your season, not the calendar.
Can the photos be used by travel agents and magazines?
Hotel and estancia photography is licensed for your own marketing — website, booking platforms, social media, brochures — and sharing with travel agents and press for coverage of the property. Use in paid advertising by a third party, sale of the images, or use after a change of ownership is agreed in writing before booking, so the rights are clear before the files arrive.
