Personal brand & headshots

Personal brand photography

Personal brand photography in Argentina is a 30-minute session of portraits, working scenes and detail shots for people whose business is themselves, priced from $180 for 20 edited photographs delivered within 7 days. The buyers are coaches, consultants, therapists, writers, designers, creators and remote workers based in Buenos Aires or passing through, who need a website hero image, a speaker bio photo and a set of varied pictures for their posts, rather than one profile portrait repeated everywhere.

The session is planned backwards from where the pictures will be used. Before the day, the photographer reads your website and profiles and asks what you are launching, then builds a shot list: a wide portrait for a homepage header, tighter portraits for profiles, you at a laptop or with a notebook, you teaching or talking, and close details of your hands, tools and products. Thirty minutes covers one setting and one look. A café or coworking space in Palermo, a bookshop in Recoleta, a cobbled street in San Telmo, a terrace in Córdoba or a vineyard in Mendoza are typical settings, and every private business among them needs to agree to the camera first.

Light and season decide the hours. The first or last two hours of daylight keep skin even and backgrounds soft; a December afternoon in Buenos Aires is hot and humid, while from June to August a coat may have to appear in the pictures. Bring one outfit in a solid colour that fits your brand. If any picture is meant for paid advertising, a book cover or a product sold by someone else, agree that use in writing before the session, and get a signed release from any client or colleague who appears, since article 53 of the Código Civil y Comercial requires consent to reproduce a person’s image.

This is not a headshot session. A headshot is a tight portrait for a profile, made at an office against a plain or blurred background. Personal brand photography, in the same 30 minutes, is a set of scenes, and its value is the range of situations rather than the one perfect face. A second location, an outfit change or a longer session can be added and is quoted in writing. If you need social video as well as stills, the social media content service adds short vertical clips from the same morning.

Questions about personal brand photography

What is personal brand photography, and how is it different from headshots?

Personal brand photography is a set of pictures of you doing your work — coaching on a call, writing at a café table, teaching a class — plus portraits and detail shots, starting at 30 minutes and 20 edited photos. A headshot session makes tight portraits for a profile against a plain or blurred wall; personal brand photography makes a varied set of scenes for a website and weeks of posts.

Where should a personal brand session in Buenos Aires take place?

A personal brand session in Buenos Aires works where your work really happens or where your audience pictures you: a café or coworking space in Palermo, a bookshop in Recoleta, a cobbled street in San Telmo. Cafés, bookshops and coworking spaces are private businesses, so ask the manager before arriving with a camera, a laptop and props, and the 30 minutes start on time.

Can I use personal brand photos for ads and a book cover?

Tell the photographer before a personal brand session if any picture is meant for paid ads, a book cover, packaging or a product someone else sells, because commercial use beyond your own website and social channels is agreed in writing. A client or colleague who appears recognisably signs a release too, as article 53 of Argentina’s Código Civil y Comercial requires consent to reproduce anyone’s image.

What should I wear for personal brand photography?

For personal brand photography, bring one outfit in a solid colour that matches your brand and sits comfortably for the season: from December to February a Buenos Aires afternoon is hot and humid, and from June to August a coat may need to appear in the pictures. A second look can be added with a longer session, quoted in writing before booking.
